Buyers guide to networking |
|
Networking can be as simple or as complicated as you want.
· Do you want to simply connect to broadband or set up a home office network to share folders and files as well as the internet? · Do you want wired or wireless? What operating system do you need? These are questions you must consider. The type of network depends on your equipment and the layout of your work space/office space. Wired is the cheapest and most reliable but not the most convenient for computers around the house/office. You need a hub to connect everything to, cabling and sometimes lots of holes in the wall. Wireless can be more convenient but there are a myriad of options. Basic speed (b) for internet connection, medium speed (g) for file transfer and internet or high speed (super g ) for home office. Not forgetting Bluetooth Also the range covered by wireless depends on the type of access point, other wireless devices such as cordless telephones and house construction. |
